The Madness

It's here

The Madness

This is just a quick roundup before you settle in for one of the best 4 day stretches of the year--it's March Madness!!!

First up: I created a bracket group on ESPN for fellow basketball sickos in Maine. You can find it by searching "Maine Basketball Rankings" or clicking on the link:

Join Maine Basketball Rankings!

It's free and there's no prize. Just the love of the game, you know? And bragging rights, of course.

There's also a group for the Women's tourney.

Join Maine Basketball Rankings!

Do both! I did.

I might finish last.

If the First Four is any indication, we're in for a fantastic tourney.

And as I'm writing this, Xavier is completing their comeback over Texas. God, I love the tournament.

Of course, the big story is Cooper's injury. If you've been living under a rock, Cooper sprained his ankle in the ACC quarterfinals and sat out for the rest of the ACC tourney (which Duke won anyway). The consensus seems to be that he's going to play, but there's a chance they sit him for the first round?

There's a lot of moving parts to the tourney, so I had Adam Robinson join me to go through the brackets. We went over the Carolina question, Duke, why Gonzaga is severely under-seeded, and maybe ADs shouldn't be making these decisions? And a whole lot more.

Previously on the podcast, I spoke with Biddeford girls coach Jeannine Paradis about re-building that program, the heartbreak behind that loss to Caribou and the insane finish, the increase in women coaches in Maine, and a whole lot more.

This was a really fun conversation.

Of course, you can also listen/watch on Spotify.

Here's a cool interview with Joe Mazz.

Finally, this came across my feed as I was looking for something else.

The stat line for Mamukelashvili is nuts: 34 points on 13/14 from the floor and 7/7 from 3 in 19 minutes. He also added 9 rebounds. Not bad for a guy averaging 5 points a game! His previous career high was 28 (in 43 minutes).

Flavor Flav approves.
