Rain, Rain

A windy washout (mostly)

Rain, Rain

Well most of last night's schedule got washed out.

Was it a playable night? Probably.

Were ADs maybe remembering last winter's storm and playing it safe very early in the season? Maybe.

In one of the very few games that did happen, Yarmouth's Ian Lawrence ended the 1st quarter with a half-court buzzer-beater and Yarmouth turned it into a 23-0 run. They sailed on by Cape. Lawrence led the way with 26.

Some housekeeping for my sanity.

So in order to run the Model and do things like Game of the Day and the picks and a big chunk of the newsletter, I need the scores for as many games as I can get. On the best nights, that takes until 10pm. Most nights it's in the range of 11pm. Running the Model takes some time, at least a half hour to do all the steps. Then finishing off the newsletter takes me to midnight at the earliest--but sometimes it's 1am. This year I have a new job (better benefits!), but I've gotta be up at 7am and you can see how that works out, sleep-wise. My old job started later in the morning (but fewer benefits). So, on some nights, the Model picks won't factor in the previous night's games. It usually only moves the number by half a point or so.

I figure tonight is a good time to try it, seeing as most of the slate got wiped out. Also, I might be coming down with something, so I'm gonna crash early.

It's another light night, so we'll head to Kennebunk, where the 2-0 Rams are hosting Wells. The season's young, but Kennebunk is leading A South in scoring, defense, point differential, and %Perfect.

Wells is 1-0 with a win over Traip and the Model is hoping this might be a high-scoring affair. I dunno. I could see this being a bust.

Or maybe no one will have power.

We'll see!

The rest of the Model's picks are after the jump.
