We're late today because I just got power back, so let's get at it.

A lot of people in my notifications thought the Game of the Day should have been Cheverus and Gorham. After all, it was a big AA game between the top 2 teams in the rankings, but the Model sees things, sometimes.

Cheverus led by 13 at the half, holding the 9th highest-scoring offense in the state to 11, and held on for a 51-37 win to end Gorham's quest for a perfect season.

Ok, so the Model had Gorham winning by 10. You win some, you lose some.

Let's go to the actual Game of the Day: #3 Orono visiting #4 Old Town.

The Model had Old Town favored by 1.2 points.

That's 2 losses in a row for the defending champs and all of a sudden, Old Town has built themselves something of a cushion in B North.

We had a buzzer-beater in Brewer.

We head to the 4th quarter, where Brewer (4-4) trails Bangor (7-1) by 1.

If you're wondering, Bangor is favored by a little more than 10.

In Thomaston, the Oceanside boys put up a Leavitt football score on the Hornets. But in the first quarter.

Oceanside would put up 72 and the half and 102 after 3 quarters. They finished with 113--that's their 3rd 100 point outburst this year and they're averaging 92.6 ppg. That's 14.8 more than anyone in the state (Hall-Dale girls, 77.8).

The Mariners had 3 different players score 20 points, including Cohen Galley (28) and Carter Galley (26).

Now we wait for the next Leavitt/Oceanside football game.

We had 2 1,000 point scorers last night.

I always say, if you're going for your 1,000th point, make sure you get there.

Hampden's Zach McLaughlin needed 8 (or 10) points to reach 1,000 on his storied career.

He went off for 38.

I added a column to the Scoreboard called "Notable". This is mostly for me to take notes for the newsletter, but if you want to add that a kid scored x points or had a double-double or whatever, go nuts.

This is a good way to highlight the kids on your team in the newsletter. I'm usually looking for 20 points or a double-double or something like that.

Grizzlies fans are learning why we love Marcus Smart so much.

We're back in A North today, where the defending champs of Lawrence very well might be hosting Hampden. We'll see!

Lawrence is undefeated and lead A North in scoring and point differential, but they've done so against the easiest schedule in the region.

As for Hampden, they've got 2 losses on the year--one opening night to Brewer and one to Cony.

So the Model has Hampden very slightly favored, despite being lower ranked and on the road. It's a quirk of the system where the rankings are cumulative, but the predictions adjust for games played (Hampden has gotten to #40 in two fewer games). If it were me, I'd pick Lawrence here, but I guess we'll see.
