Opening Saturday

And away we go!

Opening Saturday

As we kind of suspected, the Game of the Day turned out to be a bit of a bust. Gorham raced out to a 21-5 lead and held on for a 64-51 win over the defending champs. Ashton Leclerc led Gorham with 25.

It was a big night around the state as we kicked off the season.

The Scoreboard struggled a little bit to keep up, but in the end it did ok. And there hasn't been a lot of movement in the Heal Points yet, obviously, but those are updated too.

With all the coaching turnover, it was inevitable that a bunch of coaches would get their first career wins last night.

But Brewer's Tanna Ross went above and beyond.

If you're in D South, you probably already know this, but it seems like there's another Desjardins kid.

And you've got to love this hustle play from Bangor's Jaiden Ramos.

Let's take a trip around the state.

Trevor Gerrish put up 28 points and 12 rebounds as Brunswick beat Marshwood...Nathaniel Wainwright had 24 as Dirigo kicked of their pursuit of a 3-peat...Marshal Adams had 23 as Edward Little beat Oxford Hills...Lincoln Academy had 14 different players score as they blew out Morse...Liam Mason scored 41 of Greenville's 54 points in their win over Rangeley...Jace Bessey had 23 as Spruce rolled over Hall-Dale...Poland freshman Nick Jamo had 5 3's and 33 points in a loss to Waynflete...Mike Shungu's 23 led Westbrook over Greely...Creighty Dickson had 12 & 14 in Windham's win over Lewiston...Lukas Bouchard had 20 & 11 as York beat Yarmouth...Mina Milosevic's 27 points fueled Fryeburg over Biddeford...Ava Smith had 22 in Lake Region's win over Cape...Medomak Valley used a 19-0 run to break away from Leavitt. Kytana Williamson led the Panthers with 20...Lydia Desrochers scored 22 as the Massabesic girls returned to action after a year away with a win over Bonny Eagle...Ella Pelletier had 32 for Oxford Hills...Annabelle Morris had 22 as Skowhegan beat the new look Gardiner Tigers...and Emma Lizotte had 24 as TA beat Sanford.

All of the Model's picks for today are after the jump.

If you're wondering, the Model went 58-23 yesterday (71.6%), which isn't bad considering it's entirely using last year's data.
