Nachos
Saturday was a very light schedule.
In the Game of the Day, Spruce Mountain took care of Dirigo to move to 8-2.
The win gets them to 5th place in B South.
They're very likely going to play Lincoln Academy in the 4/5 quarterfinal, unless Yarmouth can run the table.
Elsewhere...
Brody Little had a season-high 19 for Hodgdon as they blew out East Grand 93-28. Aaron Fortier had 20 of East Grand's 28...Harry Louis' double-double (25/15r) and Fisher Tewksbury's 24 led Valley over Piscataquis...Hodgdon's Anna Oliver dropped 26 on East Grand...the Yarmouth girls used a 24-2 run to finish off Cape...Jackson Libby had 21 and Jacob Bardsley added 20 in Lake Region's win over Poland...Tanner Henry had 23 for Mountain Valley as they beat Winthrop...
I went to the Medomak/Belfast game Saturday night. Not the best matchup, but it was the only one within the range of miles I felt like driving.
According to Don Shields, Belfast entered the game 2-51 all-time against the Panthers and had not won in Waldoboro in my lifetime (the 1971-72 season, to be precise). Would this be the night they finally broke through?
Nope.
Medomak was up 15-0 in the first 2 minutes. I believe Gabe Lash had 3 steals in the first 4 possessions. It was 26-0 before Belfast scored.
Nachos!

48-9 in the 2nd. pic.twitter.com/TZxE7GvVCv
Kristian Schumann led the Panthers with 21.
These teams have to play again but why bother? Belfast still has 2 games against Oceanside. Carter Galley might go for 100 all by himself.
After the nachos are gone and the JVs are getting their varsity minutes, one wonders if it'd be possible to flex games out of the schedule? It's one thing to schedule the games you have to schedule, but in a situation like this (and there are a lot of situations like this around the state), what if you could find better matchups, both for the good team to get a test and for the not-good team to play someone closer to their level.
It's probably far too complicated.
We're on the back half of the season, so it's officially scoreboard watching season. And the Tourney Odds are your best resource. There's a number of teams who already know their (very likely) seed and there's a handful of teams who already have an idea who they're playing in the first round.
And then there's C North girls. They're really going to need this.
This take a while to update (it's a really big file), so it usually gets updated in the afternoon.
To the surprise of no one, Noah Carpenter is your Fitzpatrick winner.
Cooper Flagg had another great outing at Hoophall.
Greg Levinsky was there.

And Bleacher Report has a good summary.
I can't tell you how much I love this.

And also this coaching rant (different game).

We have a full schedule today and with a little planning, you could probably catch a game in the afternoon and in the evening.
I believe the times on the Scoreboard are correct. I did a quick pass last night.
There's a lot of options!
This is a pretty obvious choice.
Windham is the last remaining undefeated boys team in AA. They've opened up a lead in AA North and project to get that top seed in 73.8% of season simulations.
They head to Gorham to take on the Rams, who have basically wrapped up the top seed in the south. They rebounded well from their loss to Cheverus the other day, easily getting by Deering.
Gorham's NFHS feed should have the stream.
Could this be a Gold Ball preview?
The Model's predictions for the rest of today's games are after the jump.
