Medomak Closes Strong
The Panthers answer a challenge.
The Game of the Day delivered, for a time. It was a full house at Lincoln Academy for a rivalry matchup against Medomak Valley--I had to park all the way down the hill--and was lucky to find a place to sit.
The Eagles were a team I was interested to see. They'd been down for a while, then in the last two years re-emerged as a force in B South behind a strong class led by 1,000 point scorer Gabe Hagar. They went all the way to the Regional Final last year before falling to Oceanside, but they graduated nearly all of their playoff rotation and it's always a question in a situation like this of how far a team will fall after a mass graduation.
So far, Lincoln Academy was doing ok. They entered last night's game at 3-0.
Medomak started strong. They were up 7-0 before Lincoln Academy found their footing and led 13-2 after one. But Lincoln Academy started slowly chipping away at it. Tyson Ball came in off the bench and added some stability in the post. At the half, Medomak led by 7.
Then in the third, Lincoln Academy came out hot, going on an 8-0 to start the quarter, highlighted by a AJ Giberson 3 that gave Lincoln a 29-28 lead and the home crowd was starting to lose their minds. Kristian Schumann countered with a 3 of his own to take the lead back and Medomak went on a 6-0 run to answer and Lincoln took a timeout.
It didn't work.
Gabe Lash got a breakout dunk and Medomak Valley finished on a 29-2 run after Lincoln Academy took the lead.
Lash led the way with 16 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Rocco DePatsy added 8 points and 3 blocked shots off the bench.
The win moves Medomak to the top spot in the Power Rankings.
To the surprise of no one, Falmouth's legendary coach David Halligan won his 600th career game.
Davis Mann went off for 41 in the win.
There were a bunch of overtime games last night and none more interesting than TA/Scarborough.
Scarborough rallied in this one to force OT, erasing an 11-point deficit after 3 quarters. Adam Fitzgerald was the driving force, scoring 23 of their last 24 points. He finished with 35, but it wasn't enough. Wyatt Benoit had 27 of his own, including a number of clutch free throws to seal it.
Speaking of overtime...
Lake Region would prevail in the end.

Updated Wins Draft Standings.
If you talk to anyone who knows anything, they'll tell you Caribou is the favorite in B North. They're 3-0 with the top scoring offense in the entire state, led by Mr. Basketball candidate Tristan Robbins.
Fort Kent is is the highest scoring team in Class C and there's a chance this game has a lot of offense, but I suspect this will be Caribou by a lot.
The rest of the Model's picks are after the jump.
