Fort Kent Has a Baller

We've got a new high water mark in scoring.

Fort Kent's Aden Jeffers went off for 47 points against Southern Aroostook(!)

I needed to do some Christmas shopping, so I swung by the event at the ACC to check out some basketball.

This was billed as all countable games, an opportunity for teams to cut down on travel and knock out some games. Friday's action saw a huge win for Wiscasset over Forest Hills.

I got there for a girls game between Traip and Islesboro. Traip led 20-7, but Islesboro chipped away at it, tying the game at 26.

And then Ella McCoy hit this free throw with 2.5 seconds left to seal the win.

And...I don't think it counted?

The promotion for the event at the ACC stated that all the games were countable games, but when I got home, I noticed that Traip's schedule was all full--both in my internal schedule and on the MPA's site.

And that got me looking at Traip's schedule and...what a schedule.

Screenshot from my Heal Points spreadsheet

That's 4 games against Class D, 10 against Class C, 3 against Class B, and 1 against AA. If you're going to have this schedule, you gotta get an A school and hit all 5 classes.

Also, the ACC is a very different look in the regular season.

Elsewhere:

Jahleel Joseph's 26 led Central Aroostook past Foxcroft...Lily Oliver had 29 as Wisdom beat Hodgdon...Madelyn Deprey dropped 34 on Old Town...Lilly Burtt had 28 for Central Aroostook against Lee Academy...Brooklynn Raymond led Penobscot Valley with 23 points, 6 boards, and 6 steals against Calais...Maren Maxon had 14 & 7 and Meg Mertens added a double-double as Wells beat York...Akol Maiwen had 21 as Edward Little beat Hampden...Reece MacDonald's 24 led York over Wells.

Power rankings are updated for boys and girls. We're starting to get a little clarity with teams having played 2-3 games.

I've made a small tweak that basically lessens the value of last year's data with each game you play.

Here's the boys:

And the girls:

Of course, this is unfairly weighted against your team. But if you want to see where your team is, check out the full rankings.

In the Wins Draft standings, Adam Robinson is off to a hot start. Mike Mandell is...struggling.

How do I get a Derrick White angel for my tree?

Bangor Christian is 3-0 in their title defense, with convincing wins over Stearns, Greenville, and Searsport. Are they on a collision course for a Gold Ball rematch with Valley? Some are saying!

They'll host a Machias team that's already +75 in only 2 games, blowing out Sumner and Jonesport-Beals.

This is a nice early season test for each of these teams and will also be a nice data point when they play again on January 31st.

The Model's picks for today's games are after the jump.
