Fly Eagles

The Windham boys entered last night's game against Cheverus as a notable (but not impossible) 10-point underdog to the Stags.

Cheverus led by 14 in the first half, but Windham came all the way back and led by 3 in the final seconds. Only, Leo McNabb was fouled on a 3 and made all 3 free throws to force overtime. Windham prevailed in the extra frame, 67-62. Blake McPherson led the Eagles with 24. McNabb finished with 23 for the Stags.

The win vaults Windham to first place in AA North.

Ashton Leclerc made some history last night for Gorham.

He finished with 31.

I was in Newcastle along with a full house for the Lincoln Academy boys and Medomak Valley.

This is usually a big crowd, but with Lincoln Academy returning to the playoffs last year and starting off 5-0, there was extra juice locally.

Medomak picked up right where left off in 2023, starting hot from the field and never looking back in a statement win. Kristian Schumann led the way with a career-high 21 and Maine United's Gabe Lash added 20 to a stellar defensive game.

The Panthers win their 5th straight to improve to 7-1.

Speaking of double-overtime, the Yarmouth boys snapped their streak of 3 straight overtime game in a trouncing of Lake Region, but forgot to tell the girls about the new plan.

I think we can call that 4 straight OT games for Yarmouth. They go to Wells next for a boys/girls doubleheader on Thursday.

Elsewhere...

Jeissey Khamis had 18 & 16 for Portland...Sanford's Makai Bougie dropped 26 on Bonny Eagle...Lukas Bouchard had 20 & 15 in York's win over Cape...Finn Harkins' 40 wasn't enough as Boothbay lost to Waynflete in OT...Nick Martin had 22 as Traip beat Sacopee Valley...Ellie Gay had 9 in the 4th as Gorham rallied to beat TA. Emma Lizotte had 15 & 18 in the loss...Maddie Fitzpatrick had 20 & 10 to pace Cheverus...Jordyn Crump had 19 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 7 steals in Biddeford's win...Haley Kirkpatrick had 21 & 10 in Morse's win over Leavitt...Brunswick broke open a close game with a 16-3 4th quarter to put away GNG...Waynflete's Lauren McNutt Girouard dropped 33 on Boothbay...Finn Harkins' 42 wasn't enough for the Boothbay boys against Waynflete...Carter Galley had 32 in Oceanside's win over Winslow.

We had a fantastic ending to the first half in Bath.

Trace MarFarland finished with 25 for Morse.

You might have noticed the Scoreboard was a little slower last night, especially on mobile.

I'm guessing the logos are slowing it down. I'm going to try and use smaller versions and see if that helps, but if the team logos go away, that's why.

Let's to to Girls B North, where 2 unbeaten teams are battling for the top seed.

Ellsworth, of course, is the defending champs. Back when they were 2-0, I wrote that they were ranked too low (they'd only played 2 games when a lot of teams had 4) and it turns out they were. Since then, they beat a very good Caribou team by 15 on the road and that's the closest anyone has gotten to them. They lead the state in scoring differential and they're 2nd in scoring at just over 75 points a game (Hall-Dale, 84.0).

They'll head over to Old Town. They're also 6-0 and also own a win over Caribou and trounced Houlton up in the County. They've out-scored their opponents by nearly 29 points a game, good for 10th best in the state.

At just under 92, this is our highest Stax Index game of the year so far.

Ticket TV will be on hand to stream it.

The rest of today's games are after the jump.
