Well that was a surprise.

Yesterday, in previewing the Game of the Day, I talked about how the Model was arguably a little light on Camden. Couple that with it being a rivalry game and there was every reason to believe they would do better than the Model’s pick of Medomak Valley by 11. But I was thinking something in the range of Medomak by 3-6. Instead, Camden put up their biggest win since Jon Moro took over, thrashing the Panthers 72-44 on the road. Medomak, along with Maranacook and Brewer, were one of the most valuable teams in the state in terms of Power Rankings, so Camden getting 100% of that on the road vaults them all the way to #3 in the Power Rankings. It seems unlikely that Camden is 28 points better than Medomak, after all they’ve already got 2 games against common opponents that would argue strongly against it. But this is definitely a statement win for the Windjammers.

They’re back! If you remember, we already had the Boothbay boys as the game of the day for their matchup with Winthrop, a game in which they finished on a 29-4 run to erase a 10-point deficit and drop Winthrop to 0-3. Since then, Winthrop has gotten the bus back on the road with a pair of wins over Gardiner and a nice 7-point win on the road against Hall-Dale. They’ll be looking for revenge against a Boothbay team that’s been mostly quiet since that comeback. Or no one reported the scores. In 2021, you really can’t tell.

#16 Boothbay @ #13 Winthrop (Winthrop +0.3) [87.8]
