EXCLUSIVE: The 2025-26 Reclassification Plan

The Game of the Day was kind of a bust. Tristan Robbins went off for 36 as Caribou blew out Fort Kent, 89-44. Aden Jeffers led Fort Kent with 25.

The Stearns girls rallied down 4 in the final minute against Southern Aroostook before Mariah Frost broke a tie with this dagger 3 at the buzzer.

Frost had 28 on the night, out-dueling Alexia Hersey, who had 23.

Southern Aroostook is suddenly 0-3

Talk about a halftime speech.

The Mountain Valley girls went into the locker room down 17-7, then ripped off a 12-0 third quarter and held on for a 29-26 win over Monmouth. Madison Dow had 13 for the Falcons.

Elsewhere...

Avery Bessey's 18 led Spruce over Winthrop...Brody Morgan keyed a 25-3 first quarter for Telstar. He finished with 21...Fisher Tewksbury scored 19 and Harry Louis added 16 as Valley nearly doubled up Carrabec...Madeline Hill led Valley with 22 in a blowout in the girls' game...The Madawaska girls beat Van Buren in overtime...Lilly Burtt had 19 as Central Aroostook beat Katahdin by 1....Madelyn Deprey dropped 39(!) on Fort Kent...Katahdin got 26 from Conner Edwards and 25 from Josh Martin to get by Central Aroostook. Jahleel Joseph had 28 for CA.

I missed this yesterday, but Noble is on a double 1K watch.

But the big news is I've got your first look at the reclassification plan for the next two seasons.

Every two years we go through this whole cloak-and-dagger thing where I'm getting what seems like state secrets sent to me anonymously and I've got to try and verify it and that's an adventure and there's hand-written notes and it's a whole thing. And every two years I make the joke that the MPA could just send it to me directly, since I'm going to get it anyway. This year, they just sent it to me.

What a time to be alive.

A couple of notes:

This doesn't include relegation, which I'm told will be sticking around next year (good!) but might exist in a different form (I'm cautiously optimistic).

This is the result of several drafts over the last couple of months and a very long meeting last week and will now go to the classification committee. So this could change! And I do think they want feedback, so if you've got some, put it in the comments.

Having said that, here's the reclassification plan:

Central Aroostook lost a staple of their community.

“Bob’s job responsibilities were keeping the clock. That’s really what we expect of him is to just keep the clock, but he always kept a close eye on the kids, he knew if a kid was hurt, he knew if they really were really hurt, if they maybe just need a break because they’re frustrated or discouraged. He stayed on top of that, he kept an eye on the crowd for me, he would always be like ooo you gotta watch this one but more than that he was excited for the kids,” said Heather Bradbury, 8th year as Athletic Director.
Robert Holmes: A Central Aroostook Panthers Legend
MARS HILL, Maine (WAGM) - Bob Holmes dedicated more than 35 years of his life to his job.

For some reason this Bluesky post from Bill Russell's daughter won't embed, but the story is so good, I just had to share it.

This is so cool.

We have our first tie in the Stax Index.

I picked this game for reasons.

Kennebunk is off to a good start. They're 2nd in scoring and 1st in scoring defense in A South in the early season. Portland is a different story. They have a negative scoring differential against a tough schedule.

The rest of the Model's picks are after the jump.
