Kennebunk turns a close game into a rout
In the Game of the Day, the Wells boys held an early lead on Kennebunk after 1, but as I suspected, the Rams turned it on in a game that wasn't close in the end. 'Bunk wins 72-37. Theo Pow had 22.
They can't all be bangers.
It was generally a light night. But there's 75 games on tap tomorrow!
Elsewhere:
Reece MacDonald hit 6 3's and scored 20 points as York cruised by Poland...Ava Hudson in Sanford's win over York...Ethan Michaud scored 22 as Greely beat Gorham...Foxcroft needed all of Freshman Nola Mason's 13 points and 13 boards to beat Dexter by 2.
The Heal Points have been updated.
If you're new here (or even if you're not), my Heal Points are the same as the MPA's, only the interface is a lot better. And it loads faster. And the scores are usually updated sooner.
Oh and it doesn't open up 15 different windows. You can see at a glance each team's schedule and both how hard their upcoming games are AND how much they're worth (not always the same thing!)
If you spend any amount of time looking through Heal Points, it's worth the subscription. Hell, probably 20% of the paid subscribers are here just for that.
This is the kind of story I love.
Brewer has always been ahead of the curve in using social media to promote their students--I'd say they're top 5 in the state--so it's no surprise to see them doing something like this. Letting students get hands-on experience by promoting other students is a true win-win.
It's great to see Lauren Vanidestine and Hannah Snowdeal take this on.
I'm going to go ahead and assume this is their work.
I've been toying with the idea of using AI to collect scores, because that would be an excellent use of AI, taking a tedious process and streamlining it, but let's just say it isn't ready for Prime Time.
As best I can tell, zero of these scores are correct.
I guess we're stuck with the Scoreboard.
If you're one of the people putting scores in there, it's a massive help.
Virginia Tech's Conner Venable got his first college point last night and I think he had the right perspective on it.
He's only 120 from catching Bronny.
Last year, Maranacook put a scare into then-undefeated Mount Blue before Evans Sterling took over and finished with 29. But Sterling is at USM now. Maranacook's leading scorer, Keagan McClure, is gone too, so it's a bit of a rebuild for each team.
But they're both 2-0 in the early going.
Maranacook won that crazy 6 technicals game at Monmouth and Mount Blue has an impressive win over a Camden ranked higher than them in the KVAC pre-season coach's poll (Mount Blue was 6th; Camden 4th).
Maranacook is the favorite here, but keep in mind the Model is giving them a lot of credit for a 12-point road win over the Class C State Champs. That win will become less valuable as the Model adjusts to Monmouth's new Sammy Calder-less normal, whatever that is.
Which is to say, the Model might get this one wrong.
The rest of the Model's picks for today's games are after the jump.
