Ace Comes Home

The Black Bears get a massive commit

Ace Comes Home

First, the big news.

This is awesome and not just for UMaine. There's an upside here for Ace that I don't think exists in some of the programs higher up in the KenPom rankings (257). If he can lead the Black Bears to the Promised Land (a 16 seed), it'll be awesome. If he can win a game in the NCAA Tournament? He's a made man.

Plus, the in-state NIL money in Maine has to be far more lucrative than it would be in the Mountain West or wherever.

Speaking of NIL, Cooper signed with Gatorade.

A pretty good day for the Flagg twins.

The Presque Isle girls also had a pretty good day. After driving 224 miles each way to knock off Oceanside in the prelims, the 11th seeded Wildcats followed that up with a 214 mile drive each way to eliminate #3 Erskine.

They'll only have to go 177 miles to take on #2 Hermon.

We can't find some neutral sites for some of these games?

Fall Gold Ball Odds are updated to include yesterday's games (well, the games that were reported)

I already went through the girls soccer brackets to pick some Cinderellas (and Ellsworth has already failed me. Now, it's time to do the same for the boys.

Game of the Day

The boys soccer quarterfinals take the pitch today, highlighted by a couple of 4/5 games and a very long road trip for Gardiner (257 miles each way!)

But the Game of the Day is a 2/7 field hockey game between Lawrence and Cony. My first reaction is to question this, but yesterday the Model picked a 1/8 field hockey game and that turned out to be closer than the projection. But also maybe the Stax Index is overvaluing field hockey a little. I'll keep an eye on it.

The rest of today's games are after the jump.
