2 Dunk Technicals
Dear god, not again
Sometimes, the Game of the Day doesn't...live up to the billing. It happens.
And then there's this:
Holy...
There's some context here. According to Brunswick Head Coach Sam Farrell, the Dragons were missing 4 starters. There aren't a lot of teams who could win a game minus 4 starters and no one's beating Oxford Hills without 4 starters.
So it goes.
Penquis' Caiden Fowles had one of the better buzzer-beaters you'll see.
But that's not as cool as this.
However, the big news is that dunk technicals are back. 🙄
Ellsworth's Kyle Kenney picked one up in the first quarter against Old Town. You can find the video at the Ellsworth Student Section Instagram.
Ellsworth would go on to win big, 61-29 and avenge their only loss of the season.
But Kenney wasn't alone, because Camden's Nolan Ames also got a dunk technical against Cony at the ACC. I've got a clip of that and have not yet been able to get permission to share it, which is a thing you're supposed to do, because of copyright law (don't know who needs to hear that).
Hopefully this is just a fluke and not the start of a new trend, because no one needs a dunk technical.
Preach.

The podcast is back this week after a short break because of life stuff. I think at the end of December, you should be allowed to admit you aren't winning the year and put the JV kids in until January 1st.
Anyway, it's a solo podcast. I go over some of the stories from the week, then dig into the Power Rankings for the boys and girls.
As for the rankings themselves, here's the boys top 15:
And the girls
This is very cool.
Westbrook is having a rough go of it so far. They're 1-5 on the year and in 10th place in A South. But the Model has them 31st in the state and 5th in A South, which is such a large gap that I actually went to the MPA's site to make sure they were actually 1-5. They are. Let's look at their schedule so far.
The losses are by 1, 2, 5, 2, and 3. That's 13 points across 5 losses. So they are much better than their record. The Model thinks they should have 2.7 wins and 3.3 losses, which feels right. Someone is going to get a rough draw in the first round.
Kennebunk started the season 3-0, but since then they've lost 4 straight when their Strength of Schedule shifted.
If you want to use the opponent in common (Falmouth), the edge goes to Westbrook. The Model thinks Kennebunk might break the losing streak.
Regardless, someone's getting a much-needed W.
The rest of the Model's picks for today's games are after the jump.
